EXAMINATIONS
Some courses carry mid semester tests and final written examinations. While other courses have coursework requirements in the form of projects and or research.
Registration for a course constitutes registration for the examinations in that course.
All written examinations are scheduled for evenings and are one and half to three hours in length.
Examination timetables will be posted on the Notice Boards and all students are deemed to have been notified.
Students should arrive no later than fifteen minutes prior to the beginning of the examinations. Students who arrive late will not be allotted extra time. Students will not be allowed to sit an examination without presenting their identification cards.
Neither will students be allowed to bring any books or papers of any kind into the examination room. No pencil cases, calculators, wallets or purses, headgear, large coats or any similar item are allowed in the examination room. Failure to comply with these rules will result in the student’s disqualification from the examination. The incident will also be referred for disciplinary action.
Students are not allowed to leave the examination room before forty-five minutes of the examination.
Absence from Examinations
Students who register for a course and do not sit the requisite examination will be recorded as absent/fail (FA), unless the absence is authorized by the Academic Committee.
Absence from Examination due to ill health
Students who are ill should request permission to be absent from an examination. This should be done in writing accompanied by a Medical Certificate duly certified by a registered medical doctor. The medical certificate should state briefly the nature of the illness without breaching medical ethics. This request should be submitted within five days of the examination.
Examination Results
All examination results will be posted on the Notice Boards.
Re-sitting of Examinations
All students are required to pass a course, however, students may be allowed to re-sit a final examination only in special circumstances. To be considered for a re-sitting, the student must be a finalizing student who would have received a grade in the band of 40 to 49 percent. Such a student should not have failed more than one final examination in a course. Students who wish to re-sit such an examination, should apply in writing to the Academic Director. If permission is granted, such student will be advised by letter and will be expected to pay the requisite fee.
Withholding of Examination Results
Where fees are outstanding, the Institute reserves the right to hold examination grades until such sums are cleared. Certification will be held under such circumstances.
